Mukh darshan
A view of the idol's face from a short distance. You keep walking past. It moves much faster and suits elders, children and anyone short on time.
What the different lines mean, when to go, what to carry, and how to keep elders and kids safe.

For people who have made a vow (navas) and want to touch the idol's feet. At the most famous mandals this line can take many hours, sometimes most of a day or night.
Not sure which line you're in? Ask a volunteer before you join. Switching later means starting again.
Waits vary hugely. If you are travelling with elders or children, plan for the upper end.
Dial 112, India's national emergency number, or tell the nearest police officer or mandal volunteer. The big mandals run help and announcement desks for lost children and belongings.
